Dancing is Healing
Nov 09, 2021Many clients come to Camilla Slater Coaching with a view to better themselves and their lives. Many have a history of various therapies and various modalities, and yet somehow the obstacles that have ruled them or obscured their joy continue on in daily life.
Many have worked through partial issues and feel resolved in one or two areas, but there is a host of prevailing concerns - anxiety, sleeplessness, trouble relating with loved ones, a sense of isolation, depression and even a history of secondary and tertiary eating disorders or alcohol problems. They may have a handle on some of these and may show some improvement, but the deep wounds and pains remain.
Coaching women through to the process of "higher self realisation" is more of an unravelling than anything else. It is a kind of self-creation through load-lightening and a complex array of individualised strategies. The use of a "coaching template" undermines the complexities of individualised experience, and while there are some generic frameworks that inform the process, what is really required is the development of ongoing relational pathways of encouragement and compassion, as well as some formatted guides - that lead a client back through the metaphoric labyrinth to the higher self. Of course, on the way, the client can often encounter that "inner Minotaur" - a sometimes difficult but rich and exciting time of soul excavation and heroine's journeying.
So this gives you some insight into various coaching methods used by Camilla Slater Coaching. While most coaching strategies often just involve the setting of goals and a kind of veneer of superficial task setting, we work things a little differently. Well - a lot differently. And we are immensely proud of that.
Some of this work is inextricably linked in with the body. Now in saying this, I don't want to give the impression that some particular "bottom up" strategy is the be-all and end-all of true progress. Far from it. Rather, the art of poignant and truly holistic and integrative coaching requires an understanding of various physiological and neurological issues as well as so much more - that could in part be contributing to the "stuckness" that some clients - of all ages - are describing.
An incorporation of these practices and principles is, in my view, just one of many vital components in cutting-edge coaching.
Often, it will involve helping the client develop a new kind of relationship with the physical and the mental realms - a kind of fusion of the two, where a non-dualistic awareness is encouraged through certain felt-sense strategies and discussions.
The journey is an exciting one, and if there is a goal, it's the capacity to find freedom and joy in newfound ways through a process of non-dualistic awareness, creativity and "unburdening."
Sometimes, (and I say "sometimes" because coaching and healing trauma is in fact client-specific,) it can start with a return to the simple joy of movement. So many of us lose this magnificent capacity as we move into and then through adulthood, and yet in some instances it can be key to the integrated healing and coaching work that we do here at CSC. The aim is always to lead you to profound self and life transformation.
So...no matter how....begin the simple process of movement.
Turn on the music.
Claim your body.
And dance.
You are a gorgeous miracle of utter delight.
Love from Camilla and the CSC Team xx
