When Up Is Down
Jul 23, 2022Its been a lovely week.
First off was a visit from an Australian girlfriend, then a full week coaching with some new clients as well as the mid week group which has settled nicely.
Today however I feel fairly tired. I’m back at the gym - no mean feat for this woman in her late 50’s. I’ve spent the past few years out on our lovely farm here, focusing on functional fitness tasks as part of outdoors work.
But with winter rains, and, as coaching grows (and fabulous that it is) I’m choosing the gym once again. I spend a lot of time on Zoom and I’m front of screens, so I’m not hauling hay bales on our Arapito Farm or helping with our Miniature Belted Galloway Society of New Zealand herd, with caesarians - yes, cow caesarians, or out feeding lambs quite so much this season.
And so, I create change. Expand out beyond routines and rigidities and reframe and reconsider. And change.
Change up. Change down.
That’s also led me to consider transformation.
And dynamics. And flow. And process. And being. And doing.
One of the tenets I live by is the m*#e#@**&s of change.
How do you get used to that?
While you can (to some extent,) map out your journey with a nice mood board or vision board, there’s a far more interesting journey here on the planet if you allow and afford yourself a different kind of "gift of living." (Poor old mood and vision boards. I’ve given them a trashing this week. They have value, but not in my view as THE end point as is usually promoted and believed.)
So how do you move beyond the vision board?
This is the tension to live within. How many learn this?
Very few.
And it is what it's all about. And it is what I coach you to learn to be and live.
So…
Glib platitudes announcing the amazing and “ever forward” propelling trajectory of all aspects of life as we progress, are little more than potty and pithy marketing ploys that don’t deliver the reality of what change really offers us. They leave most women feeling inadequate for failing to “hit the mark.”
Yes. They’re gorgeous anchor points and have value. We do need our goals. And we need and want our mood boards and our vision boards.
But…….
There’s a lot more to it. I speak from experience. Lots of experience when it comes to changing self and life.
I’m always interested in women who want to make committed changes over time.
That usually means an exploration of deeper forces. Woo-Woo.
Dreaming is a vital part of this process. So is fantasy.
So is mistake making and embarrassment, projection and deep, deep internal resistance. So is a very different conception of selfhood.
What a blast. What a miracle. What an extraordinary ride to share.
Who’s joining me down there?
Have a gorgeous day.
I’m gonna do some reading.
Love from Camilla. xx
