Who Are You, Really?
May 26, 2022Wow! The other day, I ran into someone - a dear friend I hadn't seen for many years. Over 35 years to be exact!!
I was struck by the meeting. It was incredible.
Here I was, darting across the streets of Sydney after a function, opposite Hyde Park, and a woman appeared before me.
(I was actually ducking back to my hotel to change my shoes. I had worn high heels all morning and would soon be making my way up to another event - set in bushland down on the harbour foreshore just past Boy Charlton Swimming Pool and The Domain.
There'd been so much rain and the ground was a little soggy, so those of us attending had been advised to change our footwear before making our way down to the green foreshore area beneath the angophora trees and the great Moreton Bay Fig Trees that line the harbour foreshores. They're so pretty!
So here I was...rushing into the hotel when I came across her! Yes! A familiar face.
A very familiar face!
Over 30 years between us, and while I instantly recognised her - her style and her carriage and her facial expressions were almost identical to the last time I saw her - she barely recognised me.
I kept trying to jog her memory and she was, like "Umm, do I know you?"
I laughed and persisted.
It took her what seemed like a good minute, to comprehend who I was and yet we had been incredibly close.
